STAR WARS IN THREE-D

George Lucas appears ready to re-release his "Star Wars" franchise in an all-new dimension. Sources tell "The Hollywood Reporter" that the first film to hit theaters will be "The Phantom Menace," which is expected to arrive early in 2012. The subsequent films will be released in order in consecutive years. Each three-D conversion will take at least a year to complete.

NEW DOOBIE BROTHERS ALBUM

The Doobie Brothers are releasing a new album this week called "World Gone Crazy." It is the band's first studio album in over a decade. Doobie Brothers founding vocalist Tom Johnston told Billboard.com, "It's the best thing we've done musically in forever."

The Social Network


"Fight Club" filmmaker David Fincher directs "The Social Network" from an adapted screenplay by "A Few Good Men" scribe Aaron Sorkin. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The Social Network" is rated PG-13. Here is the official movie site with trailer.

Let Me In

Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins stars in the horror-drama "Let Me In." He plays a character called "The Father" in the film about a bullied 12-year-old boy who befriends an eternally youthful vampire. "Let Me In" is rated R.

Case 39

Renee Zellweger stars in the thriller "Case 39," opening nationwide this Friday. Zellweger plays Emily Jenkins, a social worker who becomes attached to a 10-year-old girl named Lilith. Ian McShane, Bradley Cooper, and Jodelle Ferland also star. "Case 39" is rated R.

Fans now can experience the Beatles' historic performances on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on a new video set. "The Four Complete Ed Sullivan Shows Starring The Beatles" was released through Universal Music Group. The video package features appearances from music's "Fab Four" in full episodes with remastered audio and restored video.

GIANTS IN THE PUMPKIN PATCH! BUT ARE THEY SINCERE?

A New Hampshire farmer has won not one, but two giant pumpkin competitions. Hiram Watson's pumpkin of eleven-hundred-92 pounds won in New Hampshire and his second pumpkin won in Maine, coming in at a whopping 13-hundred, nine-and-a-half pounds.
EDDIE FISHER HAS DIED!

Entertainment legend Eddie Fisher has died at the age of 82. Fisher got his start singing in amateur talent competitions. By the mid-1940s, Fisher was fronting big bands and soon opted to sign with RCA Victor. As an actor, he appeared in "Bundle of Joy" and "Butterfield 8."

Fisher's five marriages included three high-profile unions. The performer was first married to actress Debbie Reynolds. Daughter Carrie Fisher was Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" films. He married Elizabeth Taylor in 1959. After that union ended in 1964, Fisher went on to marry actress and singer Connie Stevens. They had two daughters together.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Oliver Stone is taking audiences back to "Wall Street." The 1987 film's sequel -- "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" -- is opening nationwide on Friday. In it, Michael Douglas reprises his Oscar winning role as Gordon Gekko. "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" is rated PG-13.

You Again

Two generations of rivals collide in "You Again." The comedy stars Kristen Bell as Marni, a woman whose brother is marrying her high school nemesis. Sigourney Weaver plays Aunt Ramona. Jamie Lee Curtis is Gail. Odette Yustman plays Joanna. Betty White also appears as Grandma Bunny. "You Again" is rated PG.

Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

The 3D animated film stars an owl named Soren who's enamored with the legend of the Guardian owls of Ga'Hoole. "Legend of the Guardians" is rated PG.

And they are already underway in Munich, downing their 1 liter steins of beer while dancing in their leiderhosen (mostly men)

Thanks to Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese who invited the public to join them in their marriage celebration in 1810. ( They must have had extra beer or something. 1 liter steins require filling before the beer goes stale ) ( and what about the porta-potties )

Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys is the scheduled musical guest on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" this Thursday, September 23rd. PAUL AND THE BAND ON THE RUN ARE BACK!

Paul McCartney is reissuing a best-selling recording from his post-Beatles days. McCartney says he plans to re-release "Band On The Run," the 1973 album from his group, Wings. The remastered recordings will arrive in several formats. The "Band On The Run" reissue is scheduled for a November 2nd release.

THE STORY OF JERRY LEE LEWIS ON THE BIG SCREEN?

Rumors out of Hollywood have Brad Pitt set to play the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer while "Badlands" filmmaker Terrence Malick is said to be on board to direct. Dennis Quaid played Lewis in the 1989 film "Great Balls of Fire!," which also featured Winona Ryder as Lewis' teenage wife, Myra Gale Brown.

PHIL COLLINS REVEALS HIS SOUL ( SORT OF )

Phil Collins is talking about "Going Back" to revisit American soul. The 59-year-old classic rocker told Billboard.com that his new album of soul covers -- which releases in North America on September 28th -- was self-produced to keep things simple. Among the covers announced for "Going Back" are "Blame It On The Sun,"by Stevie Wonder; "Going To A Go-Go," by The Miracles; and "(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave," originally a hit by Martha and the Vandellas. Emma Stone is leading up the cast of the high school comedy "Easy A," which opens nationwide on Friday."Easy A" is rated PG-13.

Devil

A film adaptation of the M. Night Shyamalan story "Devil" is hitting theaters nationwide this Friday. Set in a Philadelphia office building, the thriller features five people in a stalled elevator. As terrible things start to happen, it becomes clear that one of the elevator riders is the Devil in human form. "Devil" is rated PG-13.
JOHN LENNON BIRTHDAY BENEFIT CONCERT

The late John Lennon's 70th birthday is coming up on October 9th and celebrations to mark the occasion will include a benefit concert in New York City. Performers will include Jackson Browne, Patti Smith, Aimee Mann, Shelby Lynne, and Cyndi Lauper. The show is set to take place on November 12th at New York's Beacon Theatre.

TOM JONES ON LETTERMAN

Look for 70-year-old Tom Jones in late night next week. He will be the musical guest on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman" on Wednesday, September 22nd. Jones is making the appearance after the U.S. release of his latest album, "Praise & Blame."

Buffalo Springfield is reuniting on stage for the first time in decades next month for a charity concert hosted by one of its own. RollingStone.com reports that surviving original members Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay will perform at Young's Bridge School Benefit. The first night also will feature performances by Billy Idol, Jackson Browne, and David Lindley. The annual concerts have raised funds and awareness for The Bridge School, an organization that works with students with severe physical and speech impairments.
